Coat: Vintage | Dress: Brandy Melville | Boots: Alexander Wang x H&M
You’ve read the title and I mean it. Well, this year, I suggest that you don’t buy a winter coat from stores.
As a fashion blogger and bargain hunter, I’m already starting to look at the prices of winter coats this year at my favorite stores like ASOS, Mango, or Aritzia. They are pricey, but in addition, they aren’t the heaviest quality. I live in the NYC area so it gets cold and I want a coat that will actually keep me warm. At the same time, I don’t want to be spending $300 on a coat.
Ready for my solution?
Isn’t thrifting the solution to everything though? Ehh, maybe not, but for this winter, it is! I have been thrifting vintage women’s and men’s jackets ranging between $6-$20 (what a difference from $300). And these coats are all 100% wool or 100% cashmere! These will actually keep me warm (but they are super stylish at the same time).
Since this season is all about the blazer trend and vintage plaid prints, I guarantee you will find a coat within that trend at your local thrift store.
Tip: I recommend taking the shoulder pads out of your thrifted coats because personally, that 80s look is too bulky for me and it looks like I stepped out of The Breakfast Club.
