Investments You Need To Be Making For Your Blog & Instagram Business

So you’ve decided to turn your blog or Instagram into a business, or maybe you already have. With more saturation on the web, scams are rolling in from left and right and it’s hard to evaluate what’s actually worth it and what’s not. Making any kind of investment is a risky step, but if you’re looking to take your blog or Instagram to the next level, you will have to be willing to take that risky step.

And now, more than ever, professional blogging requires investment in order to cultivate massive growth and beat your competitors.

I’ve compiled a list of 6 of the best investments worth making for your blog and Instagram to grow your reach and turn your baby into a thriving business!

Best Investments For Your Blog And Instagram

1. Website Design – depends, about $50

Having a clean, easy, and responsive website design is crucial to maintaining any blog traffic. Make sure the font is something easy and professional-looking to read, the background is white, and it doesn’t take a long time to load. Unless you need a custom blog design (which I personally don’t think is necessary if you’re trying to keep your budget low), this investment shouldn’t be too steep compared to the typical website design prices. There’s so many free WordPress themes and very affordable themes on Etsy – this one is my favorite budget-friendly option!

2. Self-Hosted – $70 per year

Notice that I didn’t recommend any Blogger themes! I highly, highly recommend getting a self-hosted website using WordPress if you want to have a running, successful blog that gets a lot of traffic. You need a professional .com domain, as well. Bluehost is probably the most reliable, easiest hosting option around which sets you back at about $70 per year including a custom domain.

3. Tailwind – $120 per year

I swear by this extremely helpful tool! I can say this contributed to 90% of my blog traffic and about 20% of my Instagram growth, and I continue to see it work as well for my clients. Technically, my traffic comes from Pinterest but my Pinterest account would be nothing without Tailwind. You can sign up for Tailwind here and get one month free!

4. Camera (or an iPhone upgrade) – about $800

This era of the internet is visual heavy so your photos need to be perfect quality! If you haven’t invested in a DSLR camera already or upgraded your phone to the latest model, you’re missing out on creating potentially viral content. My DSLR camera recommendation currently is the Panasonic Lumix G85 – which also is one of the best video cameras of this year.

5. Clothing / Travel – depends, from about $5,000

Depending on what your blog or Instagram is about, it’s important to invest in clothing and travel for a viral reaction. Influencers today swear by investing in travel and fashion because it gives you original, eye catching content, different hashtags and geotags to use which increases your reach tremendously. Your content won’t go viral unless you capture viral content. This could be a potentially fun expensive investment, so if you have a developed platform already, you can start reaching out to hotels and brands for collaborations to cut down costs.

6. Virtual Assistant – from about $50 per week to $1,000 per month

If you have the time to put in full-time work into your business, that is amazing! If you’re also a student or work another job, then sometimes it gets tough to put in the tedious work for your blog and Instagram. Whether you work on your blog full time or part time, a virtual assistant can solve almost all of your problems! If tasks are overwhelming, assign them to your virtual assistant. If you don’t have enough time to write a blog post or engage on Instagram, then set them up for a fixed amount of time at their hourly rate. I personally never recommend following bots for Instagram, but I always will recommend a virtual assistant. Virtual assistants will do the same thing you’re doing – engaging, liking, commenting, following, etc.

For how to find a virtual assistant, I recommend asking other bloggers for referrals or searching in Facebook groups for assistants geared towards influencer tasks and engagement.
